there are no license fees for commercial or personal/developer use.  you
are supposed to register it to be legal.  the form is easy and i registered
Solaris 10 earlier this year and received an e-mail which is the actual
proof you're licensed.

yes, Open Solaris supports zones.   i would suggest using Solaris 10 rather
than Open Solaris for your colo situation.   but if you have any time to
work at home on Open Solaris and contribute anything back (especially
drivers for x86 version) it will help the Open Solaris grow faster.
