   Seconded.

   Whilst I'm not terribly active on "Rescue", I do follow some
threads with quite a bit of interest.  I don't particularly care
for the x86 architecture, but realise that it's here to stay;  I
don't care to get into the flamewars on the matter as sager minds
than mine have already put the case forward succinctly.

  I really don't want to see Bill shut the list down, but if that's
what it takes for him to get some sleep I'll back him.  For the
most part, I find the crowd hereon a pleasant congenial one; there's
a decent sense of humour about most things, and there's civility
more often than not (try *that* on USENET).

   If I had a gripe about "Rescue" it'd be that there's not a whole
lot of mention of machinery that pre-dates the workstation, but
that's not a big problem as I happen to have a healthy interest in
workstations as well as 1970s-vintage minis.

   I think what I really want to say here is that one of the
absolutely magical and wonderful things about computers is that
there are so many architectures and designs to choose from.
Cheapening that with a flamewar about what one is *best* is tragic
and ultimately destructive.  It's like taking religious sides
about how many bits-per-word is the *right* value -- it's very
counterproductive because there *is* no "right number";  it all
depends on what your application is.
