We have several 715/64 (very similar to the 712) at the Unix-AG runing
Linux/Debian and they work well. Even X11 via the kernel frame buffer
device. The C110 is very different (CPU, chipset, partially firmware) so
I can't extrapolate to the C110.

Maybe you tried on a 715/33, /50 or /75. This machines are quite
different to the 715/64, /80 and /100. (slightly different CPU,
different chipset, I/O bus and GFX)
