Because they've got a big marketing department who's prepared to swear
that black is white, night is day, and blue screens of death and lost
data improve your productivity; and because there's a lot of awful
stupid corporate customers out there who think that because Microsoft is
worth 58 billion dollars, anything they say must be true and their
software must be good. Consequentially, any problems with Microsoft's
shit are assumed to be the fault of either the hardware or the user.
Microsoft Excel might lose that third-quarter financials spreadsheet
that you need for the board meeting in 25 minutes, but it's the poor
administrative assistant you told to print it for you who'll get fired
for it.
