It is sometimes called a corona wire.

What it looks like is basically a very thin metal string, like the
thinnest electric guitar string, stretched and connected to two posts.
It is the width of the widest paper the machine can take.

What happens in some cases is that the corona wire is not visible, you
just need to move a plastic tab back and forth a few times to clean
it.  Of course,if the felt cleaners inside THAT are dirty, you need to
clean or replace them first.

Avoid getting direct sunlight on the (usually) green part of those
rollers, BTW.

if it is the same engine, check Apple's sites or a Mac fan site on how
to clean it, maybe.
