[rescue] SCSI/IDE converter recommendation?

Since my experiments with SCSI-based PCMCIA readers failed miserably (as
chronicled some time ago on this list), I'm trying again for solid-state
SCSI storage by taking known-working IDE flash drives and sticking SCSI/IDE
converters on them.

So far the Acard AEC-7720U seems like the easiest to get ahold of, but I
wish their website had more specs on it. They talk about how the converter
is meant for high-speed drives, whereas the flash drives I'm working with
*only* support PIO, no DMA or UDMA at all. I don't want to spend $70 on yet
another piece of equipment that doesn't do what I need. Does anybody have
experience with these units, or know of any other converters (with 50-pin
SCSI connectors) which would be likely to work?

Thanks.

PS: more closet cleaning to come, probably in March! I'm down to only one
storage unit now, but I still have a LOT of stuff to get rid of.
