Well, depends on his personal preference. NetBSD/prep runs well once 
you get around the broken installation. But given that NetBSD/prep has 
no Xserver, AIX is the way to go if you want a machine with X11.

AFAIK it has a PPC604e. At least the former 43P-(100|133) and later 
43P-150 machines have PPC604e.
