[rescue] Spaceball + IRIX?

It's probably stupid, but I'd love to get shutter classes and a
spaceball on my Indy.

Wouldn't mind another spaceball then for the octane as well.

Anyway, isn't the spaceball for irix just used via x-input?  Glut seems
to support the spaceball when on Irix, and I thought it did it via
x-input.  You'd have to check the glut source though.

Mean while, man Xsgi might give you a clue or two.  It says that
spaceballs are support via the X Input Extension.  You will have to dig
more for how to properly modify the config files to add it (I'd imagine
it's the same file you tweak to make a wacom work, see K. Huhn's page on
the topic), and how to use XInput devices (personally, I'm a fan of
grabbing a toolkit that already supports that.  GTK probably does, for
one thing.  fltk almost certainly does, etc).
