Understood.  Some people are just like that.

To me, software is usually more complicated than hardware. I've always
found hardware easy, though some vendors do go out of their way to make
it obtuse, and PC stuff is often quite bizarre.

Manufacturer's SE's scare me. Most of the time I wouldn't want them to
replace a coffee filter.

I once asked a Sun rep to just give me the equipment and let me do the
repair. When he said he couldn't do that by contract, I told him to
either do it, or I was going to report him for what he'd done to our
machine the week before.

I'm a software geek, but have always done sysadmin and hardware too.
It's only in one contract job that I was kept away from hardware. But
then, it was 1050 miles away in an IBM facility.
