Well, IANAE, but...

My impression was that you have have pretty much anything you wanted
come in the house.  I'm told that 60A used to be standard, but now 200A
is considered a bare minimum.

Further, my understanding is that unless you live in an area with a
sucky power company, you can pretty much power anything you could want
from home without trouble as long as you don't want to power 3 phase
stuff.  Not having trouble mainly means that the power company won't
have to do anything special for you other than shut the circuit off for
a few hours for you to upgrade your master breaker.
