[rescue] IRIX Java experiences?

Well... yes the Sun4c's will run java ok.

But I haven't found anything suitable for a development environment,
speedwise.
On my SS10 running 2.9, it took 15-20 minutes for Forte to open.

Has anyone found a dev tool for java that has good user response on the
older suns?

And yes, I'm already aware of vi :)

MIT's Media lab used to love running Java with some sort of custom
Java->OpenGL binding (and probably lots of other custom native code) on
large multiprocessor Onyx2s. That is what they used for one of their
major actor based animation systems, I believe.

It does seem like that natural choice. I found even Java on SS5s to be
rather good.
