[rescue] SunPCI need cooling fan?

Is it imperative that the SunPCI II 600mhz need its little cooling fan 
next to the processor in a Sun Ultra 80? I only have the SunPCI and a 
Creator3D as cards, and the SunPCI is getting direct air flow from one 
of the system fans all to itself.

The fan is making a high-pitched squeling noise that I find incredibly 
irritating and the system is almost twice as quiet without it.
