Thats the way Knoppix works, from a ramdisk.
I also has integrated terminal services, so once one node is up, you can net
boot others off it.
Finally, there is a variant out called cluster knoppix which offers
clusterminal services. Once the first node is up, you can net boot other
from it, and the automagically join the cluster. This uses the mosix kernel
patch, so if your code forks sup processes, no additional coding is
necessary.
This is distinctly different from running off removable media like a zip
drive.
