[rescue] HP v Sun graphics - heatsinks.. is size everything?

I've been looking at graphics cards lately, and it seems HP is heatsink
obsessed.. (in fact, on their processors also) while on Sun, it seems
like heat dissipation is an annoyance they give short shrift to.. eg: HP
fx-whatever v sun 3d or 6d creator. and of course in the PeeCee world..
they just use a fan (that fails without alert and cooks the processor)

any thoughts?

PS is there a published compiled benchmark list of graphics cards
performance , like with processors/systems
