[rescue] ADIC 800e experience?

Anyone here familiar with the ADIC 800e tape units?

According to one spec I see online, they have a weird flat cartridge
that holds up to 8 tapes or 7 tapes plus cleaning cartridge.

Any practical experience on these?  I got one today without the
cartridge.
