Both, depending on the type. There are four variants:
DEFPA-Ax fiber-optic SAS
     -Ux copper SAS
     -Dx fiber-optic DAS
     -Mx copper DAS
Where x is the revision. AFAIK there are revisions A, B and C.
All the fiber-optic DEFPAs use SC connectors.

Note that the 3COM 3C796 is a relabled DEFPA when you go
shopping^WePaying.
