I was just thinking Sol86 because I already have it, and have a "leg up,"
knowledgewise.

I'd certainly consider one of the BSDs, although I have worked with a BSD
variant in some years, but actually installing it might be a bit of a job,
since I don't have it on CD and I'm on a pretty slow link to the 'net.

Isn't there some *BSD that one can install over the 'net after making a boot
floppy, or somethig like that?
