You can also use them to add additional audio ports to a machine that
already has one.  I had one in a SS20 when I ran doubleX to provide
separate "seats" for 2 people at once (2
mice/keyboards/monitors/speakers).

Quake on SPARC always uses software rendering (except for an XIL scaling
boost).  No available framebuffers could do textured OpenGL at a fast
enough speed to be useful until very recently.
