Primary wkstn (U30) is under a small kitchen table with a small
raised platform holding a 15" LCD. Yes, it's in the kitchen.
Next to it on the floor is the SX164-533 alpha. Linux, headless.

In the dining room is the crimson, which _is_ its desk. The big
monitor on it will be shared with an I^2 and an Indy, and those
two will share a kbd/rodent.

The back-room boxes (Multia, AS200) -- Linux, headless -- handle
F/W & cd burning respectively. X is fine for them. Printer
lives back there as well.

The SS5 in the basement (for when it gets too hot in the summer)
sits on a tiny desk in a corner. There's just enough room for a mouse
pad, and the kbd sits on the lap drawer when in use.

There's three more alphas, an IPX, an HP, and a Mac that are kind of
in limbo right now, but can all go headless except for the Mac.

Look at what you have where the peripherals are compatible, and
where the graphics capabilities are not worth a head. Headless
boxen can live 100 meters away from your switch/hub and not chew
up valuable real estate. The HP & Alpha boxen can take a standard
monitor/kbd/mouse (peecee style), so they'd only require one of
each for all. Newer SGI's likewise, with the right
adapter for the monitor. Sun's, Apples, and older SGI's have a
need for a non-pc kbd/rat.

Consolidate your KVM needs and the desk problem will go away...
or at least get a lot more manageable.
