Looking back that probably means it's one of those E-Bay Store items
that you just "buy". Still I wouldn't want to do a "Buy-It-Now"
without confirming this with the seller. Paranoid as I am I can just
see buying a $5 item and having a big bill for $600+ dollars show up.

RAM is still cheap - I've found the IPX boxen not to be too very picky on
their 72pin RAM. Same with 50pin SCSI. You could easily make good
dedicated servers out of these.

I queried that the first time that I saw it used in an auction. The
seller told me that that was what they were told when they got them.
I personally think it's because they have other outlets for the
memory and maybe drives. Although...removing the old drives from
these _would_ lower shipping costs on them so maybe there's another
reason.
As for the RAM thing - AFAIC it's blatant B.S. but one that you're probably
not going to get them to admit to.
