[rescue] Any TeXperts?

I've been messing around trying to convert some docs here at work to LaTeX,
and I recall several people on the list being quite knowledgable about pdf
files, fonts, and LaTeX in general. I'm using pdflatex and the times
package, so my output looks fairly nice in Acrobat reader under winblows
(one of my long-term grips about some of the pdf output I've seen from
TeX-based documents).

Three questions:

1. Has anyone seen an 'lcd' looking font, like you'd see on a cheap
character mode display? Not a seven segment as seen on a digital
watch--instead, think 5x7 matrix, alphanumeric, with no true descenders.

2. Someone (lost the email) mentioned that they had worked up a spiffy
makefile to build their TeX projects. I'd appreciate it if whoever had
that would shoot it at me!

3. Is there something better I should be looking at? I'm enjoying LaTeX
so far, but I'm just getting started. In the end, I'd love to be able to
generate both pdf output files and some kind of decent looking html as
well. Documents will mostly be short (5-10 pages, max) instruction guides,
customized for individual installation.

Recue list relevance? Once sorted out and in place, this system will
probably be running on my rescued IPX.

thanks in advance,
newell
