My new (to me) SunPics NewsPrinter CL+ WORKS!! I originally thought I might
have some trouble. According to the docs and specs, this is a postscript
level-1 printer that requires NewsPrint to work. Ha! Not bloody likely :)

Internally the CL+ is a Cannon BJC-800. Hooked to a Windows/Linux computer,
just setup the print-queue to use that printer and you're ready to go. For
others (Solaris, Irix) it seems to me that ghostscript could be used if you
compile it with BJC-800 drivers. How-tos to follow when I confirm that
ghostscript works.

The cartridges are about $5 each online (I have not looked at office supply
stores). Each color can be swapped out independently of the others, too. Even
at that low price, though, to replace all the cart's will cost twice what I
paid for the unit to begin with :)

All in all, I'm very impressed with the printer. It's fairly speedy, for a
bubble-jet printer, and doesn't appear to have anything wrong with the feeed
mechanisms. I'm going to grab some cartridges in a few days, and then I'll
make sure the print heads are still good...
