Something like "STAGES OF A COMPUTER COLLECTOR:"

1. "UNIX? Is that like Linux?"
2. "Wow, I cant believe people throw this stuff away"
3. "I need a bigger truck."
4. "I need more storage space."
5. "Time to get 20amp service to the house."
------------

2.25: "Dad, ya mind if that spare electric dryer circuit hung a right down the hall into my room?"

2.3: "The apartment has a refrigerator, huh? What a waste of a 20amp circuit... Umph... now if i could just get this thing out of the way i could plug my disk array back in..."

2.5: "Hm, do you think anyone would notice jumper cables on the air conditioner? They forgot to put a 220v outlet by my desk!"

2.75: "Yes, that's right, I don't care if the apartment is next to the EL and the last occupant left a big read splotch on the wall when he got shot so long as it has a 3-phase outlet in the bedroom!"

3.5: "What do you mean I'm not parked legally officer? I put a quarter in all 6 meters my semi was in front of!"

Note: Items beyond 2.25 have not actually occured... yet... The answer to 2.25 was an emphatic "NO! 3x15 amp circuits are more than enough!" For the reccord, one is used by power tools and occasionally fire-breating-dragons... err... my slightly broken PDP/11 that only executes the "HCF" instruction, one is shared with the washer and is for when friends bring ttheircomputers over. Some parents have rules about not having girls in your room, not smoking, they bar you from having parties in your room, or insist that you not pick up the floor. Not mine. The list of things forever banned from my room: 19" racks, 220V outlets, current draws > 30 amps, hydrogen (got a little oxygen in the test tube once... made a good rocket iinsteadof the "pop" i expected. Another incident involved my poor understanding of "exponentially increasing surface area. When reacting HCl with Al foil, the reaction increases exponentially as holes are burned through it - the resulting aluminum oxide ash, shattered glass and dense HCl fog were not well recieved...), and any computation device I require aid carrying down the stairs. And some listonians think their SO is harsh!
