i've also seen a lot of 2.5.1 still in the field since it was such a great
version a lot of places continue to run it (why fix what isn't broken)

i run NetBSD on all my "slower" boxes, so i can't really comment on the speed
of solaris 8 on them. it is very acceptable on a sparc5 though.

i currently sit in front of a sparc20 at home. it's a little slow at times,
but all in all, does exactly what i need. it's a great machine. running, you
guessed it, Solaris 8.

the serial console is a wonderful thing. now to get my xyplex working so i
don't have to climb back behind the rack everytime i want a console on
something. :)

you really are trying to get hurt aren't you? *grin*
