Trust me, I used to work for a company that made software DVD decode.

All the smart guys are in the video and audio decode side; the ones that
actually tweak the antialiasing and figure out how to do the trick modes
(like smooth 4x-speed backwards playback, something that can be
difficult when you consider that key frames are generally only useful
when playing things forward).
