I can't see how it would illegal.  If it were illegal, it would have to
be from electrical code or zoning laws.  I don't think any municpailty
would bother making a law that said people couldn't run an old mainframe
in the comfort of there house.  Now, if you had a couble cabinets
sitting in your front yard, they might care, but that would be just like
having a non-running, unlicensed, car up on blocks, with no tires,
sitting in your front yard.
