[SunRescue] Router vs. PC with router/firewall software...

Mike,

It'snot actually as simple a question as it sounds. The first thing you need
to ask is "what exactly do I want to do with this system". If all you care
about is forwarding packets at high speed then a router is clearly the best
choice, but as you add more functionality the GP (General Purpose system)
becomes more and more cost effective.

So what EXACTLY do you want to do?

What's the advantages of a router over a PC/SPARC/foo running 'nix with
firewall software? IS there any?

I would think that the PC is much more configurable but having done almost
no router work I don't know.
