I do exactly the same thing.  ALL of our music is in the jukebox, which is 
connected to the stereo.

Napster is useful for finding that old crufty stuff which is impossible to 
locate otherwise.  Further, when ripping from my collection, I used napster to 
fill in the blanks where I had trouble getting a clean rip from a damaged CD.

I built my own.  AMD K2, 64MB ram, 2G system disk (Mandrake 7.2), 45G 
datastore disk, soundblaster card w/ line out connector.  Total cost about 
$300. This machine runs headless.  I rip on my dual proc linux box and move 
the files over the network to the jukebox.  I use an old Stinkpad, more 
because it's black in color and matches up with the other stereo equipment 
than any other reason, as the web browser console.

The jukebox runs Gronk, which was a PITA to set up, but now that I understand 
it, is almost flawless.  Gronk lives at http://www.jwz.org/gronk.  He has a 
demo page set up so you can see how it works.
