Actually unless this is a very old installation or was wired improperly,
your range receptacle should have four connections:

			hot leg - 120v to neut. or ground
			hot leg - 120v to neut. or ground
                        neutral - 
			ground - Should be zero between it and neutral

While the oven and burners require 240v (hot leg to hot leg) the timers,
lights
and controls all use 120 volts. A 4 wire plug has been code in most
states for
the past 30 years or better.
