This may be completly off target here, and I cannot even
remeber if it aplied to RS/6000 or SUN 3/x

But I remeber, connecting a terminal and for the the first
part of the boot having to use 7 bit / odd
Anyway, it was odd and I'm sure it was 7 bits, then when it
actually started loading, it changed to 8 bit / even.
I know this is a bit hazzy, but it's been so long I ever had
to set up a terminal, but this one does stay in my mind, as
I found it very strange indeed.
