Pull the FPU card completely.  The kernel should detect its absence and
emulate all FP ops in software.  This makes things such as X font scaling
extremely slow, but will hopefully either fix the problem or remove it
from the list of possibilities.

What OS version are you trying to boot?  4.1.3?
