Actually, TNG was shot on film, but the effects were composited on 
video.  If TNG needs to be remastered for Blu-Ray, the live-action shots 
on film would come across just fine, but all the effects shots would 
need to be redone.  It would be a project on an order of magnitude 
similar to the TOS remakes.

However, unlike TOS, there are seven seasons.  That would be expensive.
