Maybe part of the problem is that you're doing too much mousing?

I know that when I hate having to bounce back and forth between mouse
and keyboard, so I don't put up with user interfaces that make me do
that.  Maybe you need to start doing the same?  (Having a real medical
issue citable may give extra weight to your "requests"....)
