IBM had an open source operating system VM/370 before that. VM/370
was based upon CP/67 and CMS which were open source circa 1967, but needed
specialized hardware to run it.

It wasn't until August of 1972 that IBM announced the virtual memory hardware
would be available on all systems, so any new machine would be able to
run it.

New word I coined 12/13/09, "Sub-Wikipedia" adj, describing knowledge or
understanding, as in he has a sub-wikipedia understanding of the situation.
i.e possessing less facts or information than can be found in the Wikipedia.
