The point is this: keyboard mapping is a fairly standard feature, and  
Microsoft effectively hid it, it is not a typical search to find it,  
and they changed the mapping system at least three times during the  
Windows lifetime.

Also, remapping on Windows 2000 onward doesn't really work.

The only thing it does is change *ONE* of the several APIs/interfaces  
to the keyboard in Windows, presumably the Win32 library.

For everything else, the mapping remains unaffected, or even  
malfunctions.

DirectX for example will either fail to see the new mapping, or  
actually malfunction and input becomes unpredictable.

It's actually pretty screwed up.

It used to be in NT 4 and DOS-Windows, that remapping fixed all apps.
