ironic, since in europe at least the names for all the weekdays are
pagan...  iirc we have the second babylon [of the jewish captivity,
~700bc?] with their fascination with numerology to thank for our
calendar.  but then it appears that this was when judaism was
formalized and organized into the old testament.
