By law, in order to obtain a business licnese, you must provide a registered
address and in some states a telephone number. Most people who don't want
to be contacted hire an accomodation address.

Many places will allow you to look this information up on line or will
answer a telephone call. 

My brother in law is a registered agent in the state of Delaware. He works
out of his home. My sister likes to joke that there are 70 people living
in her basement.
