Yes. Or, we use "milters" for Sendmail to tell incoming (unknown) 
SMTP-servers to halt for 2 minutes. If they are REAL mailservers, they 
eventually retry the sending after a while.
Then they are automaticly whitelisted for communication with us for like 
720 hours or so.

This effectively block 99.5% of all those viral diceased PeeCees out 
there, and usual spamming. Verrrrry effective.

The downside is that "mission critical" mail might be slowed down due to 
badly/misconfigured opponent email servers. (Very often M$ Excrunge servers)
Those servers tend to disregard that "2-minute timeout" and wait for, 
like, 2 hours or something. Bad config. Bad.

The positive effects of this is definitly worth the negative effects.
