1400cs can be upgraded to a G3. I doubt it would hold up to
OS X, but probably PPC Linux would be good on it.
The 5300cs might still be useable for trade-ins...it was one of
those warranty extension boxes due to hinge issues. They
used to periodically have a "trade in your 5300 for $X off of a
new Mac. Dunno if they still do that--it may be out of the fix
period.
