You can get like an Hauppauge PVR-150 ($75 oem) and run it true your 
puter. The hauppauge card is cool cause it does mpeg compression so in 
linux you can just cat the stream to file and get an instant .mpg file.

But don't know about the lag on that. Also on other external converters 
there might be a short delay in processing the image.
