Well, yeah, wireless is less secure than a wire, but you can make it secure
enough to discourage any but the most determined.  Most psuedo-crackers will
search out easier prey.  As the old saying goes, you only have to run faster
than your buddy, not the lion....

Heating ductwork can make a dandy wire routing system, by the way.  You
should use "plenum" wire for that, for its higher fire-and-outgassing
rating, but in a residence, no one's going to check.

If you have wall-to-wall carpeting, you can hide wires in the gap between
the wall and the edge of the carpet, under the baseboard.

In a real pinch, run the wire outside the house from the basement to the
attic.
