I'm assuming my immediate reaction to that -- "Whaddya mean 'have to'?
Doesn't everyone prefer to compile their own versions of critical
applications?" -- means that I'm not really the target market most
commercial software marketeers are aiming for.
I'm quite happy running FreeBSD on my servers and Macs for my
desktops, except the one lonely PC we keep around for running
accounting and billing software.
