Yeah, that's my plan too - I decided to try 4.x not too long 
ago, but once I started getting compile-time errors, I took
that as my cue to stick to 3.4.x, which "just works." Oh, and
I had been trying 4.x on NetBSD-current, until it started
randomly deciding not to pass packets :-/
