I can only suggest ATT Edge service after having the most geeky
sys admin type I know recommend it (well, he's now a therapist,
but he was until very recently Mr. www.squirrel.com).
Hit up your friends and find out if any of them have ATT phone
service and check your connectivity by dragging them around your
haunts for the day.
Iirc, most of the services will let you "try it" for 72hrs for
only the cost of your airtime, though this is a hassle.
