My grandparents used to farm alfalfa in the desert around Bend, Oregon 
(actually Fort Rock, but no one has heard of Fort Rock ...) and after 
Granpa got tired of working for a living he sold sprinkler equipment.  
All the places in the world you could grow crops and they've got to 
irrigate a desert for salad topping.  Made no sense to me.
