I never knew it, but I drove this way for years! I tried it out once in a
while but I worried that i would "hurt" my wife's car:

I wear size 10 Doc Martens, and in my old 1993 Tercel, I didn't have any
choice but to work the pedals like this! There was so little clearance for my
long legs that just to sit down, I had to wedge my right knee up against the
dash and alongside the steering wheel (almost blocking Reverse on the shift).
To drive, I lay my foot on its side between the pedals and the underside of
the dash, using the *side* of my foot to work the brake and gas. Every so
often I would just shoot my heel out a little further and be able to catch
both pedals at once.
My wife, who's a hair over 5' tall, bought the car when she first graduated
from college because it was cheap-cheap-cheap, but small. Naturally, when we
bought a second, larger car (a 1998 Corolla) she got to drive it. :7(

   This reminds me: what's double-clutching?
