Intel pulled out of the active development of it last year, but it still
seems to be a part of their long term strategic vision. Im not sure if
that's because they actually believe in the technology, or if it just
because they havent figured out anything better and don't want to cede
victory to AMD, who are pusing a differnet technology, HyperTransport
and SNA, which can maintain backward compatability with PCI (and other)
busses, and still provide high bandwidth connection for components that
need it.

Unlike infiniband, hypertransport is already built in to all AMD
chipsets
