Yeah I know that but my point was I don't strictly need OpenGL. This

That's way too rich. Unless, of course, I have no other alternative.
Does anyone have a suitable card for sale? The budget is about fifty
bucks. I'll happily sacrifice Quartz Extreme for decent resolution and
2D performance. No, this isn't for me, it's for my mom.
