In the same product?  I'm asking about the differences within Linux's
own devfs system.  It's not like I'm asking why they don't go with
Solaris's exact format...

I suspect it's probably more the engineer who come up with it think it's
a better way.  Suits wouldn't have as much meaning in their stuff =)

But again, I was comparing two representations that Linux uses, not comparing
it to other systems.
