[geeks] C compiler won't create executables ..WTF?

Well, when new versions of the software come out, you get to see what new
incompatibilities and stupidities lie within.  Plus, if the official
maintainer of the package doesn't feel like incorporating your
compatibility fixes, you get to largely start all over because you never
know -what- might have changed.

I'm excited.  Brian sounds like he's a lot better as a project manager
than I am, so there's a chance that this might get off the ground.  My
/usr/src directory contains 162 packages, most of which had to be tweaked
in some way to work under IRIX.  Being able to use a ports tree instead of
experimenting with source-code edits and configure.in edits will make life
-so- much easier.
